Munich is one of the greenest cities in Germany and every visitor admires its parks, gardens and plants’ decorations.
In houses plants and flowers can be found at balconies, roofs and even on the walls! This makes the view so attractive and cozy.
Sometimes there are creepers all round the house, which makes it look like a green spot.
Plants and flowers in Munich
There are a lot of flowers in the city which blossom during almost the whole year.
Starting from February you can discover here first snowdrops, a little later in March the ground is covered by blooming crocuses. Also in spring there are a lot of magnolias and sakura (Japanese cherries) in bloom and later red chestnuts are in bloom as well.
In summer parks and places near houses are full of flourishing elegant roses.

There are a lot of green places in Munich including numerous parks, gardens and lawns with flowerbeds.

English garden (Englischer Garten)
This is one of the biggest urban parks in the world, its area is 3.7 km2. It has a lot of breathtaking landscapes and places to explore. For example “Chinese Tower”, a 25-metre-high wooden structure in Chinese style, is worth seeing. Also don’t miss an opportunity to walk to Monopteros, a small circular temple on the hill, from which you can observe wonderful view and sunset.
Olympic park (Olympiapark)
XX Olympic Games 1972 took place there. Nowadays, a lot of sport, cultural events and activities are held there. Olympic Area with the Olympic Stadium as well as Olympic tower are world-famous and recognizable landmarks of Munich and excellent examples of modern architecture.
Nymphenburg Park (Schlosspark Nymphenburg)
This is a park around Nymphenburg Palace, with numerous gripping places, canals and lake. This is an example of outstanding garden art in Germany
West Park (Westpark)
The park also has a lot of attractive hotspots, such as East Asia ensemble in China style, rose garden and Lake stage
Luitpold Park (Luitpoldpark)
The park is also a remarkable green hotspot in Munich. Here you can admire numerous roses, interesting plants such as davidia (or “pigeon tree”) and perennial trees!
Botanic Garden in Munich
Near Nymphenburg Park there is Botanic Garden (Botanischer Garten München-Nymphenburg), where a lot of rare and beautiful plants from all over the world are grown. It is highly recommended to visit its orangeries with palms, cacti, moss and water lilies.
